With the pitch looking great, the sun shining and another great crowd, the first team took on Elmswell looking to continue the pursuit towards promotion.
We started well and created an early chance with a shot from Joe Moore (sponsored by Xtra Time Sports Development) which was cleared off the line.
After 10 minutes a good passing move found Will Stebbings (sponsored by R&R Carpentry) whose shot was saved, and from the resulting corner Dale Pearse (sponsored by M&R Cars) headed just wide.
Shortly after a great move starting from Louis Johnson in goal, through the defence and midfield, found Isaac Page (sponsored by C Page Motors) on the left, and his cross was met by Will Stebbings whose header looped just over the bar and landed on top of the net.
Five minutes later we finally made the breakthrough when a shot by Isaac Page was saved by the keeper, but Joe Moore reacted quickest to finish from close range.
We pushed for a second but without really creating any clear chances until just before half-time when Isaac Page tried to chip the keeper who managed to palm the ball wide. A mad scramble from the resultant corner saw the ball cleared just the wrong side of the post.
Right on half time Jermaine Haynes found Joe Moore who ran into the area only to be taken down for a penalty. It was Joe himself who calmly slotted the penalty wide of the keeper to make it 2-0.
The second half started slowly but 10 minutes in Dale Pearse saw a header cleared off the line. Soon after another chance was created by Jermaine Haynes finding Joe Moore but his shot was saved.
On 65 minutes we put the game safe when a pass by Joe Moore found Joe Murphy just inside the penalty area, and his shot flew into the net via the underside of the crossbar.
We continued to press as our opponents tired, and had several long range efforts at goal. A fourth goal followed with 10 minutes remaining when Jordan Payne (sponsored by The Railway Tavern) scored with a header from a Joe Murphy cross.
The match ended with a convincing 4-0 score line which could easily have been more. We dominated play for most of the 90 minutes, giving away few chances and playing some excellent flowing football at times.
The result keeps up in second place and should give us confidence as we move into the next two games against sides around us, starting with the visit of Kesgrave Kestrals next Saturday.
