The match report this weekend focuses on the Reserves who made the short trip up the A12 to Kesgrave Kestrals A, playing on the 3G pitch at Kesgrave High School.
After three injuries in last weeks match it was pleasing that Richard was still able to take a full squad of 16 players.
We started the game quickly and immediately got on top of our opponents. After 7 minutes we took the lead through Jermaine Haynes, with a clever chip over the keeper.
We continued to apply pressure and created several more chances with Lewis Gladwell (sponsored by Shaun's Auto Repairs) shooting wide and Jermaine striking directly at the keeper.
Our opponents slowly started to find a foothold in the match as they outnumbered us in midfield. The game became end to end but with no further goals scored. 10 minutes before half time we changed formation to add an extra body in midfield and this helped tighten things up going into the break.
The second half started quite even with very few chances created at either end. With around 15 minutes to go Kesgrave had a great chance to score from 6 yards out but managed to shoot directly at one of our defenders (possibly Jake Finch?) and the ball deflected over the bar.
This stung us into action, and not long after Olly Seymour latched onto a long ball running at the defender before unleashing a great shot into the top of the net to make it 2-0.
This deflated our opponents and we saw the match out for a 2-0 victory which takes us up to 5th in the table.
The First team entertained Bardwell Sports who came into the match off the back of two good results, which has lifted them off the bottom of the table.
However, after an even first 20 minutes, it proved to be a comfortable 7-0 victory which moves us up to 2nd in the table.
The goalscorers were Joe Murphy with a hat-trick, Dale Pearse (sponsored by M&R Cars), Charlie Felton (sponsored by The Kings Head, Yoxford), Kyle Messenger (sponsored by Ensors Accountants LLP) and Joe Miller.
Next week sees the First team travel to 4th placed Kesgrave Kestrals, whilst the Reserves have a week off.
